We are inexperienced with ColdFusion clustering, but believe that it would server us well if we started implementing it with our upgrade to CF8. We currently run multi-instance CF7 across 2 production servers... but without clustering. In essence, the servers are mirrors and essentially live backups of each other. They don't really share the load or provide true automatic fail over.
Can you take a look at the following diagram to see if we are on the right track here?
