Hmm cant say Ive ever had a job like this BUT CSS 2.0 dedicated a good part 
of the spec towards printing. I think its worth a look into at the very 
least. Heres a couple styles to get you started:

Marks:
Orphans:
Page:
Page-Break-After:
Page-Break-Before:
Page-Break-Inside:
Size:
Widows:
