Andy, you should be able to use BlazeDS to provide messaging and RemoteObject access trough the FABridge and fds-ajax-bridge which are provided with BlazeDS (under the resources folder). With this small bridge you should be able to use BlazeDS to provide the same functionality to your HTML+JS as if it was a Flex based app.
