sorry to post this again, but something weird happened last night to this 
mailing list?

just wanted to see how people managed stock levels in ecommerce applications.

my thoughts so far are...

1. have stock_level field (INT) for each product
2. stock_level is decreased each time sale is made/confirmed
3. administrator may 'top-up' stock levels

would it be beneficial to keep a log of each time the admin tops up stock eg. 
date/amount??

any thoughts would really be appreciated.
