Brian: Thanks for posting this here, I had never heard of it before. I'm not positive, but this should help out with using Sortable.serialize() from the script.aculo.us library, which posts data using array notations:
key[]=value pairs separated by & I'm def going to try this out! Its amazing how many great resources are out there that I just don't know about. Thanks for sharing!
