CreateObject - ALl of a sudden starts timing out - Any ideas why?

Any ideas why the following code below would suddenly start timing out on the 
server?

                    <cfscript>
                    imgObj = 
CreateObject("java","java.awt.image.BufferedImage");
                    imgRdr = CreateObject("java","javax.imageio.ImageIO");
                    f = 
CreateObject("java","java.net.URL").init(imagePaths[i][1]);
                    imgObj = imgRdr.read(f);
                    </cfscript>
