I have used report Builder for both 7 and 8. Version 8 is much better than the earlier version. I have created a variety of reports with it. My biggest problem with it is getting it to connect to the RDS so that I can build the queries more effeciently.
And just like Terry said, there is nothing that you are missing. I haven't found a lot of information to go on, but once I had figured out a few of the basic principals of the system, everything else just kinda came along with it. I might be able to help if you had specific questions, but I would guess that I haven't used it to the extent of others, but hey, I can try.
