If you need the generated html to be readable then <cf_lesswhitespace> should do the 
trick.
Personally i found that both stripwhitespace and lesswhitespace could be a bit heavy, 
so i wrote a little app that strips whitespace from .cfm templates before i put them 
up on the test or live server - works a treat, though wouldn't recommend it unless you 
can guarantee that you have the original .cfm files in a safe place, eg VSS
