I would avoid able commerce if you are doing any customizations. I know it isn't one of the three...just wanted to put that out. I did a couple of contract gigs where we modified the cart (which is...admittedly..pretty awesome if you go with what you get out of the box). Where we ran into major issues is upgrading the cart to fix bugs. Instead of having a patching process, they just replace the code and expect you to modify the new code to restore the changes you made. The display layer is not separate from the application layer. This makes any upgrades hellish. Their tech support is pretty good. There was one lady I was dealing with that was very helpful and solved a lot of the issue we had, but even with that, I wouldn't recommend that any use able commerce unless they modify how their code is so that it is seamless when upgrading.
