Okay, I think that this is almost working. If I invoke the wrapper using cfinvoke tags directly in the page I get a result set! The problem I am still having is that when trying to bind it to the grid I get "CFGRID: Response is empty."
I tried the fix on Ben's blog http://www.forta.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/6/25/ColdFusion-Ajax-Tutorial-6-Editable-Data-Grids And I added a bindonload="true" argument to the cfgrid tag.
