I was wondering if anyone has ever tried doing doing a CFC/Custom Tag that
could parse Sherlock/MyCroft/A9/Open Search/Whatever you want to call it/ - the
search plug-ins that are available for IE7 & FF3 in the upper right search box.

I think such a tool would be great for a number of reasons.

1) Older browsers don't have the search boxes built in

2) If you incorporated it into your site, you wouldn't have to hassle with
forcing the user to download/install the search plugin

3) This might be a handy little tool if you were trying to mimic a browser in
Flex

My impetus behind this idea is for a revamped company intranet - we've got
plenty of things that are searchable - phone directory, training aids, forms,
etc. and I'd like a choice drop down that is elegant like the built in one -
and also have the flexibility of adding existing ones from popular search
engines.

If it hasn't been done - does anyone want to help me make it?

I envision a tag that you tell it where the plugins live, options to use or not
use the icons, and my preference is to use as plain vanilla CFML as possible -
we're still using a CF 4.5 install if you can believe that, but most of our
stuff is on a MX 6 and we are finally going to 8 - but the earlier we can get
this to work on the better.
