Hi i would really appreciate some expert opinions on the issue of encrypting a live database.
we are using a mysql database and when we do backups we will be using third party encryption software to encrypt the database and store it in a secure location. however what do you do with the live database? we have gone through so many levels of security with coldfusion, but we are unsure how you guys deal with encryption of the database. do you encrpyt the live database? and if so then does this mean you have to decrypt it each time coldfusion accesses it? and does this add much additional processing time? i don't know much about this area and would appreciate any guidance on what i need to be looking at, searching for, and thinking about. if you do encrypt the live database does coldfusion provide any help with this? if this is not the answer then what security measures do we need to be thinking about in terms of protecting the database thanks for any help you can provide Richard ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:314168 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.4
