CF does have a bit more work to do when you use open/close custom tags
for exactly the reason you suspect. (It has to buffer the content
between the tags, but it was going to buffer it anyway, just in a
different place.) There are also some limitations (like not being able
to use cfflush between those open/close tags), but those are mostly just
things to be aware of and probably shouldn't affect your decision much.
(We use open/close tags for the body too, and once in a while I wish we
didn't, but not for performance reasons and we've always found a way to
make it work out.)

Thanks. I just thought if the tag has a body too, then it somehow has to
'keep track' of the body hence it will be slow. But glad to know that
isn't the case.
