It's probably missing the IIS mapping to CFIDE. I recently setup CF8 on Windows Server 2k8. I started with a fresh install of 2k8 then followed this guide ( which is exactly the same for Vista with SP1 btw ): http://dale.fraser.id.au/2008/05/coldfusion-8-vista-sp1-solution.html
At first I manually added the IIS handler mappings but I had all sorts of issues so I reformatted started from scratch and now it works fine.
