If it follows the extJS guidelines, there are some serious known issues with grids. This will flow into Coldfusion as it still only uses extJS 1.1 and extJS is now 2.2+, I would suggest looking into the forums as it is not an easy solution to conquer across all browsers without using the latest extJS.
It might sound silly, but until extJS is updated within Coldfusion. It might be a better exercise to look into Cold Ext, which I think is on RIAForge from memory. You'll find you'll not only be able to do a lot more, but all the liitle annoyances such as this are almost 100% fixed.
