While I have no problem writing/decoding URLS like:
mysite.com/staff.cfm/mary_smith

I need a way to take it one step further. I don't want to see the ".cfm"
extension at all:

mysite.com/staff/mary_smith

Can anybody point me in the right direction, or is this not a practical
thing to do? (Client request - and they're always 'right')

Can this be done with just Coldfusion, or do I need to get into server
setting?

The site in question is running CF8 on Windows with standard CFM pages -
no Fusebox or anything (yet - I just inherited this thing...)

I have admin access to the server, but I ain't a server admin guru, so
be gentle...
