I've written and re-written my own blogging software for years. I find it's a great exercise in learning new technology: new framework out there? cool, what's it like to build a blog in that framework? Joe Rinehart did a great "build a blog in 8 minutes" webcast when he released Model-Glue 2 ... fantastic little basis for simple post-and-comment structure, while learning M-G and getting an extensible blog framework in place. So, been down that road, but haven't ever put tons of time into any one iteration, although I do use my own brand whenever I've created a new one (but then again I just don't do much blogging ...)
