Ditto...  Except sometimes we use Apache instead of IIS with the config
below. If you are buying new don't forget to go 64bit to eliminate the heap
sizing issue.

You can certainly use that combination, along with hardware clustering, for
high availability. We have several large-scale HA clients on exactly that
combination.
