It seems like you know a bit about databases. Why not write the looping code in the database using T-SQL, VB, or .NET and keep CF out of the picture entirely? What is CF providing that makes you want to use it for this index building task? It doesn't sound like you are serving up Web pages to users with this code, which is what CF is designed to do.
