We are assuming that ColdFusion running on your local machine. Go to your desktop, right click on "My Computer", and click "Manage".
Expand "Services and Applications", then click "Services" Look for the following services in the list: > "ColdFusion 8 .NET Service" > "ColdFusion 8 Application Server" > "ColdFusion 8 ODBC Agent" > "ColdFusion 8 Search Server" > "ColdFusion 8 ODBC Server" Does the status column show as "Started" next to any of them.
