Lots of jobs doesn't = good paying jobs. Markets flooded with .net & php devers don't pay crap and why should they when they have plenty of people who will take next to nothing.
I was talking the other day with the head of a php shop and I think he sh*t himself when he looked through a few cfm jobs online and saw what they pay compared to php ones. 40-50k for av php and 80K+ for cfm ones. I'd go with java since there aren't as many out there to drive the price down.
