And ColdFusion already comes with Derby... So you could use that one if you
are on ColdFusion and not Railo...

Have you looked at H2? IIFC Railo has native support for H2. Actually, the
express version of Mura CMS uses H2

SQLLite is anothe engine that comes to mind.
