Gee, I keep foretting details.
No, it's not comma delimited. I have to use the Mid() function to pick out
the substrings from a plain text ASCII file.

I don't suppose the file is in comma or tab delimited format? Your message
implies that. If it is, you can use it as a coldfusion datasource. That
should
significantly speed up the process. You can also use sql statements and CF
together to step through the records if necessary.
