So you want to have 'n/a' as default if there is no measurement?. T-SQL has a COALESCE function which can be used to check whether the column is NULL and have a default value. Example:
COALESCE(table.columnName,"n/a") as anyName. if table.columnName is NULL, then n/a will be substituted.
