Actually, I found a way around it. I'm using the underlying Java file reader (which is what I assume <cfloop type="file"> uses) that also includes a "close()" method that fixes it. I would think <cfloop> would do that automatically once you exit the loop (whether upon the end of the file or prematurely), but maybe there are times you wouldn't want it to.
