Ian, I don't know if this answers your question but... One of the cool things about VM's is that you can save copies of the VM image. Just get the vm where you want it and copy the files to another dir. It is a nice little safety net for experimenting and doing R&D. I couldn't begin to count how many Linux installs I have hosed over the years trying out stuff like you are. HTH G!
