I could be wrong, but I believe the quote "A job worth doing, is worth doing
poorly" originated in John Gall's book "Systemantics". The original edition
from the 70's is out of print, but there is an expanded 1986 reprint you can
still get.

It's an amazing book, which explains everything from feedback loops to why
elections don't work. I highly recommend it.
