I think you mean whitespace is breaking your xml on lines where your
cfoutputs. If so you have to make sure you don't have any line breaks after
<cfoutput> and before </cfoutput>
So this will break:
<cfoutput>
<myNode>
<mySubNode>data</mySubNode>
</myNode>
</cfoutput>
And this would work:
<cfoutput><myNode>
<mySubNode>data</mySubNode>
</myNode></cfoutput>
