Do you mean a DNS Name Server Database? There ain't "one"...there's 
hundreds...it's a distributed hierarchical system. Each DNS Name 
server  has a section of the whole. You can read about it as RFC 1034 and 
RFC 1035 at www.rfc-editor.org

There used to be "one" ...was called "hosts.txt" on the old 
ARPAnet...wasn't too much of a problem to keep a centralized file when 
there were only a couple of hundred sites...but every time a change was 
made every host needed to download a new copy... would be impossible to 
manage now...from what I understand DNS is designed to potentially address 
every computer on the planet...(that's a pretty big download...even with 
cable...hehe)
