Dave, eCommerce sites can be a bear to tackle as the requirements seem to always grow. I have used SiteDirector from QuillDesign (http://quilldesign.com) for several sites and it is a great affordable application that can be fully customized. I would imagine for the time it would take to fix your application you could purchase SiteDirector which would handle all your issues plus give you more functionality.
