As an aside I'm finding the pragmatic series to be pretty good overall. I picked up the "7 weeks" book but it will be a while before I time to dive in. Since I've started using Unfuddle with my new employer I decided to implement version control with Git since they include repositories. Finally I'm working on a single product/project instead of being one of several people involved with maintaining 400 different websites spread across dozens of servers where version control would be useful but didn't fit into the existing workflow. I have authority over this code base so version control will be used. I picked up the pragmatic book on using Git and am finding that to be very useful as well. Their "Ship It" book also has some great ideas which can be modified to work in a web development environment as well.
