Hostek would be fine for a family site if minor outages are acceptable. Personally, I host some personal / family sites from home with an old desk top running Linux and Railo.
I use Virtualmin for my hosting CP. http://www.virtualmin.com/ It took me a Saturday afternoon to get it up and running. Just a thought for consideration. G!
