Actually you can salvage (a lot of) your settings

In your workspace folder you can get your local hostory and your projects
\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources

copy the .history and .projects folder to your new workspace (back them up
first) restart eclipse. I grab everything in that folder but that is just
me.

If you do some spelunking you can find thinks like your mylyn/Trac settings
etc.
\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.mylyn.trac.core\repositoryConfigurations

Of course YMMV but it has wordked for me in the past.
