Hmm. I just tried a couple of non-printable character insertions, and
[^[:print]] does not catch them. Mayhaps [\w] is better after all. ;-)

(BTW, I went and looked up \w for a refresher: "Any alphanumeric character,
or the underscore (_), similar to [[:word]]" )
