Oh yeah. DUH. Um... you *might* be able to get away with copying the XML files in the cfusion/lib dir... the neo-whatever files. However I've never tried this.
That said though... once you've reinstalled, back up the vanilla versions of any files from the current install you put back in place, in case it's one of the config files which is causing your problems. Is the CF server you're upgrading FROM still around? You can export the settings from that, perhaps?
