Carl, You should really review the documentation on the ExtJS site, for the version you are using. You do not need additional plugins for this type of thing. Ext allows you to define default empty text, masked input, and you can put a listener on the field's render event, to place the cursor on focus. The Ext forums, on the Sencha site, are a good place for this sort of info...
