as much as i lament my own entry into this, i have to say: macromedia makes
more than flash. go and read about their OO scripting languages like lingo
and other ECMA-style scripting. or about some of the useful JDBC-type
connectivity in generator for dynamic image creation. personally, i much
prefer studio over dreamweaver, but to think studio's going downhill because
the retained name is macromedia is probably foolish. the only thing you can
bank on is facts, not assumptions. i don't use a lot of macromedia products
today, but i have in the past and they're pretty powerful. i'm in the middle
of learning flash 5 now.
before you "worry" or "fear" the merger, you might want to go read up on
these things.
as for those who have these concerns because CF is the only development
language they have experience with; it never hurts to learn more, and it
should help you advance your career both in terms of position and economics.
at least, if those are meaningful for you.
