For the vast majority of the people on the list, the posts are there within
10 minutes unless the entire machine goes down. For some people there is a
delay that is measured in hours. This delay is due to network issues where
the server tries to connect to your mail server and fails for some reason.
The server then retries every hour for 2 days until it can. I have a pretty
good idea of the lag on the list and when it happens. The list has been
pretty much chugging along at 10 minutes or so all day.
If you check the archives for when a message was received from the server
and when it was received by the archive, you'll see the 10 minutes I'm
talking about. (It would be a little faster if I didn't have a sweeper
working over the mail messages before they got to the list).
