Studio4.5.2's project deployment doesnt work. Unless you want to always
deploy the entire project, and ensure that every last folder on the remote
site already exists before you start deploying.

Project deployment doesnt work if you try to upload only the changed
files, or you try to upload a project to a remote site that doesnt have
all the folders already there.

Not bad huh for an app that costs more than the whole MS Office2000 and
Adobe Photoshop. Almost as much as SQL server. And it breaks every time
you try to use it as advertised. And they 've had 3 versions and done
nothing about fixing it, despite hundreds of complaints from people on
this list and others.

You might remember, a short while ago, a brave soul from Allaire's
development team came on here and said "we want to know your wish list for
the next version of CF server", and for the next week or so he was
beseiged with requests from people who were FAR more concerned about
getting a Studio that didn't break their systems, didn't crash ten times a
day, and that worked as advertised. Result? Not a damn thing.

Yet Studio is the part of the system that affects the people who work
ColdFusion most on a day-to-day basis. If a site is well designed, the
site visitors aren't really all that aware that ColdFusion is working
behind the scenes. Developers, however are intimately aware that their
product is or isn't working properly.

Basically, I am embarassed nearly every day by my client who swears by his
fine website, but abuses me for letting him buy Studio. The sheer
shoddiness of Studio has affected the client's whole attitude to Allaire
and the other products.

I just wish Allaire had taken the same attention to detail and the same
urgency with fixing problems with Studio that they have with the server
products.

Having said that, I also should say that despite all its faults, Studio is
still my editor of choice - I'd choose Studio over my favourite text
editor, Ultra Edit, and over Dreamweaver UltraDev. It's just that my
staff and family get angry at my regular outbursts of venom against
Allaire's developers.
