Why not just do a CFSet?

AFAIK, CF's memory allocation is dynamic, so as soon as you set another
variable it kills the existing memory...

<cfquery name="myQuery" datasource="DSN">
        select ID
        from Table
        where ID between 10 and 200
</cfquery>
<cfset myList=ValueList(myQuery.ID)>
<cfset myQuery="">
