Well, one could argue (and it seems to be the argument that aestiva is using) that
ColdFusion must access a
separate database through ODBC, and does not have native database functionality. To
say that ColdFusion (or even
ASP) do not have database function seems inaccurate.
Personally I see the fact that Aestiva uses a custom built database engine as a
negative. How can this product
in version 1.x possibly match the time proven techniques of SQL Server or Oracle?

Well, I can't speak for the aestiva product language. But technically Visual Basic
and BASIC are two completely
separate languages. They do use different syntax. BASIC = Beginner All-purpose
Simple Instruction Code (? or
something like that anyway?). When Visual Basic was initially released apparently
some industry people commented
on the capitalization of the acronym. The Microsoft response was "This has no
relation to BASIC, the old
programming language. This is something completely new."
At least one of my professors told me some such story back when I was in college.
I haven't verified it, but
the VB. syntax of today is definitely different from the BASIC syntax I used to
program in before I was born.
