But that will depend upon your teams procedures and standards. I would
suggest that you should always pass parameters explicitly, but if you don't
(silly you!) then this tag can go looking for relevant "global" variables,
and make some semi-intelligent guesses.
In essence, this is a quick-fix for historical bad-practice. I wouldn't
base my development on it, but it does permit the speedy roll-out of useful
re-usable components.
Caveat emptor!!
