I definitely agree with Dave. Python allows you to write
structured code, Perl does its best to stop you.
Python is an object-oriented language.
Not that I'm an OO fanatic but Perl goes way too far
in the opposite direction (and that's coming from an
ex-'C' programmer).
Joby, what you might also want to look into isJPython -
www.jpython.org.
This is a Java implementation of the language.
Interesting possibilities for CF integration down the road...

I think Python is very interesting, and certainly worthy of some promotion.
I'm not yet a competent Python programmer, but so far I like it a lot better
than Perl.
Python, like Perl, can be used for all sorts of tasks, not just CGI
programming. You can even write COM interfaces with it!
