>From my experience 2.6 does not work well with NT 4.0 it might be fine with
2000 but we also had to revert back to 2.5sp1.  We are running the same
configs as you.  NT 4.0 SP6a.

Most likely the MDAC is to blame. MDAC 2.5 is the latest reliable release.
