Re: monitoring a web site for changes
I am actually looking for a somewhat similar functionality.
Unfortunately, I need a 'free' solution.
The difference in what I am seeking is this - the web site
is a specific one I want to monitor. It is a chatroom CGI,
and the monitor program I am seeking would create 'transcripts'
of the discussions (either breaking the transcripts by date or
by size; I'm not particular about which).
This chat room sits there and goes 24x7. A normal web
monitoring program such as Mallory Woods described would not be
sufficient because normally an app like this 'snapshots' the
state of the page at a particular time of day or nite.
In this case, the app almost needs to become a webscraping
bot, perhaps even signed 'onto' the room.
Anyone know of anything up to the challenge?
