As much as I like 'Thinking in Java' I still recommend everyone tostart by going online to Sun's tutorial page. Also, 'Core Java' is excellent to start with if for no other reason than taking you step by step. There are 100's of *really* bad books on Java, so make sure you buy from a source where you can return them :-) Here are some rules I like to follow (but hard to tell upfront): - The bok's INDEX is the first one: If it's short, forget it, you will never find what you are looking for (even if you remeber reading it in the book) - The sample source code is SUPPOSED to work. Good luck with this one. - Author(s): There are good names (Neward, Hunter, Hyde,Flanagan [nutshell], ...) they would never write junk - Publisher (you pick it, I'v never been disappoited by O'Reilly) laszlo (Sun certified java junkie) Phoeun Pha wrote: > > Sorry for the OT topic (DONT STONE ME!), but i was hoping some of you guys > are also java programmers.
