Setting up virtual ftp's is as simple as right clicking on an existing ftp
site in IIS, and clicking add Virtual Directory. Run through all of the
stuff.
Two things that might be the problem. Make sure the user has permissions
only on the Virtual FTP folder. If they have permissions to both the top ftp
site, and the virtual site, if they fail to put in a Initial Directory into
their ftp client, they will be dumped to the root ftp directory.
If I have an ftp site with a couple of virtual ftp's and the user cannot be
relied upon to always add the Initial Folder, I set up the root ftp to go to
a folder where the user has no rights at all. That way they cannot seee or
do anything.
I would agree that there are better ftp servers out there, but IIS ftp does
have it's advantages. It is much more integrated with windows and IIS, and
there are many existing tools to script IIS already.
