I had the same problem.
I wrote a little javascript app to insert a <br> tag on a key press but
then I realised how silly this was.
Instead I downloaded a custom tag called HTML_area available from allaires
site. It is a WYSIWYG HTML thing, essentially instead of using text area
you can use this to offer your users awhole range of formating options. Try
out the freeware version Html_Area_lite.
