I am hoping that someone can clue me in on the steps needed to connect to an
MDSE database that is residing on a separate server from the Cold Fusion
server.
I must confess that I haven't spent much time on the problem, yet, but know
I will have to. I have a client that has an NT server that is running an
MSDE engine for an O'Reilly web board application. On the same network he
has a web/cold fusion server for his intranet. He wants to be able to
connect to and read from the Web Board database with his cold fusion server.
I have already instructed them to be sure that the CF server is logged in
with an account that has rights to the Webboard (he gave it full
administrator) but he still can't connect.
Before I go out there, is there some trick to connecting to an MSDE server
from the network, or can I even make the connection. I haven't worked with
MSDE before and thought is was only a desktop database.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
