Thanks to all for the help.

Shortly after I sent that message, the vendor sent me an e-mail ... "oh, you
know what, we do have a list of ASCII we use in the system. Here is is."  So
that solved my problem.  There was actually a pesky little "leader" ASCII
code that was causing me the most problems (I never would have been able to
figure it out, I don't think, without their list).

Too bad Studio doesn't offer the Hex command, like UltraEdit (which I don't
have).  I looked on Studio and couldn't find it.  (Though I did find a handy
little tool for future reference -- converts a plain text file to HTML).
